The Education Board of Vocational Training and Development organised a felicitation event at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Alipore, Kolkata on 1st June 2025 titled ‘Guiding Light – A Tribute to Educators 2025’ to felicitate teachers, educators, and principals of various schools from West Bengal to acknowledge their immense contribution in educating and moulding young minds.
As an invitee, St. Paul’s School Darjeeling had the distinct honour of receiving the most number of awards – nine in all, in various categories. Mr. Mahesh Chandra Kharga represented the school and received the awards on behalf of the Rector. The event recognized and celebrated the dedication and outstanding contributions of our teachers in fostering a positive learning environment and a commitment to student success.
The chief guest of the event was Padma Shri Deepa Malik, the first Indian woman Paralympic Medallist, Padma Shri, Khel Ratna and Arjuna awardee, and the former President of the Paralympic Committee of India. The atmosphere was one of mutual respect and celebration for the collective efforts within the educational community.
The awardees from our School were the Rector, Dr. Peter Lepcha (Outstanding Principal Award) and all the teachers who have completed 25 years of outstanding service to the School – Mr. A Dennis, Mr. P Lama, Mr. M C Kharga, Mr. P Tamang and Mr. A R Mukhia (Best Educator Award). A special award were given to Mr. N Vincent (The Siksha Ratna Award) for his dedicated service to the School spanning more than three decades. Mr. S Khaling also was awarded the Rising Star Award.
Later, on 23rd June 2025, a special award ceremony was held at the School premises, to honour the teachers. These awards were not just a personal achievement for all our teachers, but a testament to the supportive ecosystem of the school—the leadership, the collective effort of all the stakeholders, and most importantly, the students of St. Paul’s School, Darjeeling.
