The second edition of the Old Paulites football tournament commenced with a celebratory gathering at the Rectory on August 30, 2024. Approximately 150 Paulites convened on the Rectory lawns, where the tournament draws were announced by the Rector. The six participating teams were Sikkim A, BOPA, KOPA, NEST, Sikkim B & Nepal Combined, and Masters.
The competition on August 31 was intense, with each team demonstrating exceptional skill. Unfortunately, BOPA and KOPA were narrowly eliminated. In the semifinals, Masters triumphed over Sikkim A, while Sikkim B & Nepal managed to edge out NEST. The final match saw Sikkim B & Nepal clinch victory in extra time with a score of 2-1.
Nawang Bhutia was honored as the Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performances throughout the event, while Sangay Bhutia was named Man of the Match for his remarkable display in the final.
Looking ahead, we plan to make next year’s tournament even larger and more inclusive, with a goal of increasing representation from additional chapters.
