The Bicentennial Under 14 Cup Final was an enthralling encounter between St. Paul’s School and Baghajatin Athletic Club, Siliguri, held on April 1st, 2023. It is noteworthy that Mr. Utpal Banerjee, a member of the club, is an alumnus of St. Paul’s School, having graduated from the Batch of 84’.He was instrumental in encouraging the Club to accept our invitation and take part in the tournament. Despite the inclement weather interfering with the game, the players displayed exceptional sportsmanship and unflinching determination to give their best on the field. While St. Paul’s School dominated the initial proceedings, the weather gods had other plans, leading to the match being rescheduled for the next day.
In the rescheduled 10-over game, Baghajatin Athletic Club exhibited their skills, scoring an impressive 72 runs. St. Paul’s School, although putting up a valiant effort, fell short by 15 runs in their allotted 10 overs.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. A Rai, the Senior PTI, for organizing the tournament and setting off the School’s 200-year celebration with a bang. We commend the efforts of Mr. B Tamang, Mr. D Thapa, and our coach Mr. Styajit Banerjee for their unwavering dedication and hard work in training the boys and instilling in them the values of discipline and sportsmanship.
It is worthy of mention that the young cricketers from both teams displayed exceptional performances on the field, demonstrating their passion, grit, and determination. They are a testament to the immense talent and potential that our country possesses, and we are proud of their achievements. We wish them all the best for their future endeavors.
