The 77th Independence Day Celebration

The 77th Independence Day celebration was marked with profound patriotic sentiment and a deep sense of pride in our hard-won freedom.

The distinguished Chief Guest for the occasion was Brigadier Shailesh Kopkar, a native of Mudhol in Karnataka. Brigadier Kopkar pursued his early education in Karnataka and completed his graduation at Fergusson College, Pune. His journey in the military began with his commissioning from IMA Dehradun in 1996 into 6/5 GR(FF), where he eventually commanded his own unit at Tawang & Sevoke Road. On December 31st, 2022, he assumed the role of CD-R for 123 Mtn Bde. Throughout his career, he served as an instructor at NDA and Army War College, holding significant positions at various headquarters.

The event commenced with a chapel service dedicated to honoring our freedom fighters.

This was followed by the solemn raising of the National flag and the inspection of the NCC troop by the esteemed Chief Guest. The role of NCC Commander for 2023 was taken up by SK Habibur.

The PW group pledged their cub commitment, followed by a stirring Hindi patriotic song. The JW boys introduced several remarkable female freedom fighters, paying homage to their crucial contributions during the struggle for independence. The JW boys also delivered a stirring Nepali patriotic song.

Mr. G. Bhattarcharya, Kapuka Zhimomi, and Mangesh Raj shared their perspectives on the new India.

The Chief Guest delivered an inspiring speech, urging Paulites to chase their dreams and pursue careers driven by their passions rather than conforming to stereotypes.

Mr. P. Lama effectively emceed the program, while Mr. P. Lepcha, the acting administrator, expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks.

Special acknowledgment goes to Mr. Y. Sunam for his instrumental role in training the NCC Cadets, which significantly contributed to the program’s success.

We would also thank all the masters for training the JW and PW boys and our band master for the lovely performance by the Revival band.
